Job Description

Introduction

Our Client’s practice is opening a brand-new veterinary surgery and is looking for a Head Vet to lead it from day one. This is a rare opportunity to take full clinical ownership of a new, purpose-built practice, build and develop your own team, and shape the clinical standards, culture and direction of the surgery from the ground up.

This role would suit a confident, experienced GP Vet who is looking for a hands-on leadership position with real influence, responsibility and the opportunity to create something new.

Working Hours / Rota

This is a full-time role working an average of 39 hours per week across 4 days, with 9-hour shifts. The weekend rota is 1 in 4 weekends.

Dedicated admin time is built into every shift, supporting both clinical leadership responsibilities and essential administrative duties. The role includes a balanced mix of clinical work, team leadership, client care and practice development.

Role Description

As Head Vet, you will be responsible for delivering excellent first-opinion medicine and surgery while leading the clinical direction of the practice. This is a hands-on role combining patient care, surgery, consultations, clinical governance, team development and client relationship-building.

You will lead and inspire the clinical team, set and uphold high standards, support and mentor colleagues, and help create a positive, collaborative and high-performing culture. You will also play a key role in building strong relationships with clients and the local community, while shaping the long-term success of the practice.

The role offers the opportunity to influence how care is delivered from day one, with scope to develop services, support clinical growth and establish the surgery as a trusted, modern veterinary practice in the local area.

Team Size

As a brand-new surgery, the successful Head Vet will have the opportunity to help build, shape and develop the clinical team from the beginning. The role will involve leading Vets, supporting colleagues, mentoring team members and helping create a strong, supportive and collaborative practice culture.

Practice Details

The practice will be a modern, purpose-built veterinary surgery serving Feltham and the surrounding areas. The site will feature 8 consult rooms and 3 operating theatres, including a dedicated orthopaedic theatre and dental suite.

The surgery will also include in-house laboratories and imaging facilities, including a CT scanning unit. It has been designed to feel calm, modern and supportive for patients, clients and the team, with a clear focus on high-quality care, patient wellbeing and clinical development.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be a confident and experienced Vet with strong all-round GP experience and a passion for high-quality patient care. They will enjoy leading, mentoring and developing others, while communicating clearly and building trust with clients and colleagues.

This role would suit someone who is organised, proactive and calm under pressure, with the confidence to take ownership of a new practice and help shape it from the very beginning. A collaborative approach, strong clinical standards and a genuine interest in patient outcomes and client experience are essential.
