The practice is committed to high clinical standards, continuous professional development, and fostering a supportive and inclusive team environment.
Working Hours / Rota
Working hours and rota are not explicitly stated, though the role is full-time and includes leadership responsibilities within the clinical team. Flexibility may be required to support team development and operational needs.
Role Description
This is a senior Veterinary Surgeon role with a strong focus on leadership, mentorship, and clinical development. You will oversee the training and progression of new graduate and early-career vets, acting as a VetGDP Advisor and ensuring successful development within the team.
Responsibilities include delivering clinical training, identifying skill gaps, supporting governance and audit activities, and maintaining high clinical standards in line with RCVS guidelines. You will also line manage junior vets and, where required, support the management of more experienced clinicians in collaboration with senior leadership.
This role offers a clear pathway towards a Lead Vet position, with involvement in strategic planning, leadership meetings, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence.
Team Size
You will work within a structured veterinary team, including new graduate vets, experienced clinicians, and senior leadership such as the Lead Vet, Practice Manager, and Clinical Operations Lead.
Practice Details
The practice is focused on delivering high-quality clinical care while prioritising training, mentorship, and governance. It operates within a structured leadership framework, supporting continuous improvement, clinical audits, and professional development. The environment encourages collaboration, inclusivity, and progression, making it ideal for vets looking to step into leadership roles.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be an MRCVS or FRCVS qualified Veterinary Surgeon with strong clinical experience and a passion for mentoring and developing others. VetGDP accreditation is required. You will have excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills, with an interest in clinical governance and maintaining high standards of care. Previous experience mentoring new graduates is desirable, and a proactive, supportive approach to team development is essential.
