Job Description

Introduction
Our client is seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to take on a Lead Vet position at their well-established practice in Ashford. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated clinician with strong ultrasonography skills who is looking to combine clinical work with leadership responsibilities.

The practice offers a supportive and collaborative environment where the team works closely together to deliver high standards of patient care. With a varied caseload and excellent facilities, this role provides the chance to further develop both clinical and leadership skills.

Working Hours / Rota
This is a permanent full-time role working 40 hours per week across four days.

The rota also includes a 1 in 6 full weekend rotation at a nearby flagship hospital, providing exposure to a wider range of cases while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

All out-of-hours care is managed by a nearby 24-hour hospital, ensuring continuity of patient care while allowing the practice team to focus on daytime clinical responsibilities.

Practice Environment
The practice is well equipped with modern diagnostic and treatment facilities, allowing the team to work cases up to a high clinical standard.

Equipment includes digital and dental X-ray, ultrasound and echocardiography, ECG, multi-parameter anaesthetic monitoring and a fully equipped laboratory including microscope, haematology, biochemistry and iSTAT analysers.

The clinic is supported by a nearby 24-hour hospital which provides advanced diagnostic imaging including CT, ensuring access to specialist facilities and additional clinical support when required.

The team includes experienced Veterinary Surgeons, Registered Veterinary Nurses and support staff who work collaboratively to deliver excellent patient care while maintaining a positive and supportive working environment.

Role Description
As Lead Veterinary Surgeon, you will provide clinical leadership within the practice while continuing to deliver high-quality patient care.

Your responsibilities will include consultations, diagnostics, surgical procedures and case management while maintaining the highest standards of clinical governance and regulatory compliance.

You will also mentor and support colleagues, helping to develop the skills of the veterinary and nursing teams. The role includes promoting clinical best practice, supporting nurse consults and Schedule 3 procedures, and contributing to the continued development of a progressive clinical culture.

Working closely with the wider veterinary network, you will help ensure seamless case management and provide clear communication with clients regarding treatment options and ongoing care.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a qualified Veterinary Surgeon registered with the RCVS and experienced in delivering high-quality patient and client care.

Applicants should demonstrate strong clinical skills, particularly in ultrasonography, as well as leadership abilities and a collaborative approach to working within a veterinary team.

Experience mentoring colleagues and supporting a progressive clinical environment would be advantageous.

This role is well suited to an experienced Veterinary Surgeon who is ready to lead a team while continuing to develop their own clinical and professional expertise.
