Job Description

Introduction
Our Client’s practice is a modern, purpose-built veterinary clinic with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality patient care and excellent client service. As part of a large, independent veterinary group, the practice combines the benefits of a supportive network with a friendly, community-focused environment, offering an excellent opportunity for a Head Nurse to lead and develop a dedicated nursing team.

Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time role averaging 40 hours per week, working 4 days with 9-hour shifts. The rota includes 1 in 4 weekends and participation in a duty night rota.

Role Description
This is a leadership role where you will be responsible for guiding and developing the nursing team, ensuring the highest standards of clinical care and customer service are consistently delivered. You will play a key role in mentoring RVNs, student nurses, and VCAs, supporting their professional development and fostering a positive team culture.

Alongside leadership responsibilities, you will remain clinically involved, contributing to the smooth day-to-day running of the practice and maintaining high clinical standards. This role offers an excellent opportunity to combine hands-on nursing with leadership and team development.

Team Size
You will be leading a supportive and experienced nursing team within a wider practice that includes 6 veterinary surgeons and a strong reception team, all working collaboratively in a positive and friendly environment.

Practice Details
The practice is a purpose-built, state-of-the-art facility designed to support high standards of clinical care. It is equipped with modern technology and provides a spacious and well-organised working environment. As part of a large, independent veterinary group, the practice benefits from ongoing investment in facilities, equipment, and staff development, while maintaining a strong focus on community-based care and teamwork.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse with strong clinical skills and a passion for leadership. You will be confident, self-motivated, and engaging, with the ability to support and develop a team of nurses, students, and support staff. Strong communication and organisational skills are essential, along with a commitment to delivering high standards of patient and client care. This role would suit someone looking to take the next step in their career and make a real impact within a supportive and progressive practice.
