Job Description

Introduction
Our Client’s practice is a well-established small animal clinic operating across two neighbouring branches in North London. With a strong focus on delivering exceptional patient and client care, the practice offers a supportive and collaborative environment where clinical standards and team development are prioritised.

Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time position split across two sites, with time divided equally between both locations. The rota includes either 1 in 3 Saturdays at branch level, 1 in 3 Saturdays or Sundays at a nearby 24-hour hospital, or 1 in 6 full weekends at the hospital. There is also a share of 2–3 bank holidays per year and 2–3 on-call weeks annually.

Role Description
This is a Head Nurse position focused on clinical leadership and team development. You will lead the nursing team across both sites, ensuring high standards of patient care, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.

Your role will include delivering nurse-led appointments, supporting consultations and surgeries, and overseeing patient care from admission through to discharge. You will also play a key role in mentoring and developing the nursing team, fostering a positive and high-performing culture while ensuring best practice standards are maintained at all times.

Team Size
You will lead and support nursing teams across two branches, working alongside veterinary surgeons and support staff in a collaborative and team-focused environment.

Practice Details
The practice operates across two nearby branches, supported by a 24-hour hospital for out-of-hours care and advanced cases. As part of a wider veterinary group, it benefits from access to additional clinical resources, internal training, and career development pathways. The environment is focused on maintaining high clinical standards while supporting continuous improvement and professional growth.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be an RCVS registered Veterinary Nurse with strong clinical experience and a passion for leadership. You will be confident in leading and developing a team, with the ability to inspire colleagues and drive high standards of patient and client care. Excellent communication, organisational skills, and a proactive approach are essential, along with a commitment to continuous professional development and team success.
