Job Description
Introduction
Our Client is an independently owned, not-for-profit veterinary hospital preparing to launch a brand-new 24-hour facility in Hull, expanding its services across Yorkshire. Opening in January 2027, the hospital will provide affordable, high-quality veterinary care with a strong focus on accessibility, transparent pricing and excellent patient outcomes. The hospital will deliver continuous inpatient and emergency care while offering a varied and rewarding caseload that supports professional development for the entire clinical team.
Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week across a four-day week. The role includes a shared weekend rota of 1 in 5 weekends, with time off in lieu provided for weekend work.
Role Description
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse to step into a Lead RVN position within a brand-new hospital. Alongside delivering a high standard of clinical nursing, you will play a key leadership role in supporting the development of the nursing team and wider hospital. Responsibilities include mentoring colleagues, conducting one-to-one meetings, supporting staff development, overseeing rota management, ensuring compliance with Health & Safety and RCVS Practice Standards Scheme requirements, managing stock, leading regular team meetings and contributing to the continued growth of the hospital’s client base. You will also have the opportunity to become or continue as a Clinical Coach with full support.
Team Size
You will join a growing multidisciplinary team of veterinary surgeons, registered veterinary nurses and support staff, helping to establish a positive, collaborative culture within a brand-new hospital environment while supporting the development of both new and existing team members.
Practice Details
The hospital is a brand-new, purpose-built 24-hour veterinary facility due to open in January 2027. Operating around the clock, it will provide first opinion, emergency and inpatient care while maintaining a strong commitment to affordable veterinary services. Its transparent pricing model and accessible consultation fees create a diverse caseload, allowing the clinical team to gain broad experience across both routine and emergency cases.
Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will be a Registered Veterinary Nurse with previous leadership or senior nursing experience and a passion for supporting and developing others. You will be confident carrying out all aspects of veterinary nursing, possess excellent communication and organisational skills, and enjoy mentoring colleagues. Experience with rota management, compliance and stock control would be beneficial, although support will be available for candidates looking to develop in these areas. A proactive approach, commercial awareness and a genuine commitment to delivering accessible, high-quality patient care are essential.
