Introduction
Our Client is a corporately owned veterinary practice in Faringdon, Oxfordshire seeking a Registered Veterinary Nurse to step into a Head Veterinary Nurse position. This is an excellent opportunity for an RVN looking to develop their leadership and operational management experience within a supportive environment while retaining a hands-on clinical role.

Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time position working 40 hours across four days per week. Weekend duties are shared on a 1:6 rota at a nearby 24-hour hospital in Woodstock. Specific out-of-hours requirements have not been provided.

Role Description
The successful candidate will take clinical leadership of the nursing team, ensuring high standards of patient care, regulatory compliance and day-to-day clinical operations. Responsibilities will include leading nurse-led appointments and Schedule 3 activities, supporting consultations and surgical procedures, managing inpatient care, monitoring patients and overseeing admissions and discharges.

Alongside clinical responsibilities, the Head Veterinary Nurse will lead, develop and support the nursing team, helping colleagues perform at their best while continuing to develop their own leadership and operational management skills.

Team Size
The Faringdon practice works closely with a nearby sister clinic, with colleagues shared across both locations. Together, the two practices have a team of 5 Veterinary Surgeons, 8 RVNs, 3 VCAs and 3 CCAs, providing a strong network of clinical and support staff.

Practice Details & Equipment
The practice has an established client base and offers a high degree of clinical freedom and autonomy. Facilities include ultrasound, ECG, a dedicated dental suite and an in-house laboratory, with additional support available through the wider clinical network and nearby 24-hour hospital.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be an RCVS Registered Veterinary Nurse with excellent patient and client care standards who is ready to take the next step into nursing leadership. They should be a confident and supportive leader with the ability to motivate, develop and get the best from colleagues.

Previous leadership experience would be valuable, although applications are also welcomed from experienced RVNs who are ready to lead, develop and inspire a nursing team.
