Job Description
Introduction
Our Client is a corporately owned hospital seeking an Evening Consulting Veterinary Surgeon to join their experienced and supportive team on a permanent part-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a veterinary surgeon who enjoys consultations and client interaction, offering a consulting-only role within a busy 24-hour hospital with outstanding facilities, a highly experienced clinical team, and excellent opportunities for professional development.
Working Hours / Rota
This is a permanent part-time position working approximately 20 hours per week across 3–5 weekday evenings, typically from 3:30pm to 7:30pm. The practice is happy to offer flexibility around the number of evenings worked to suit the successful candidate.
Role Description
This is a consulting-only position, allowing you to focus on delivering exceptional first opinion consultations without surgical responsibilities. You will provide high-quality patient care, develop tailored treatment plans, communicate clearly with clients, and maintain the highest standards of clinical and regulatory compliance. You will also contribute to mentoring colleagues, supporting best clinical practice, and working collaboratively within a large multidisciplinary team.
Team Size
You will join a large and experienced team consisting of ten Veterinary Surgeons, including a Lead Veterinary Surgeon and Business Partner, a Head Veterinary Nurse, twelve nurses, and five receptionists. Many of the veterinary team hold, or are working towards, postgraduate certificates across a range of clinical disciplines, creating an excellent environment for collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Practice Details & Equipment
The hospital is a modern 24-hour facility equipped with seven consulting rooms, three sterile operating theatres, dedicated diagnostic suites, dental facilities, digital radiography, separate dog and cat wards, and multiple staff areas. The clinical team has expertise across dermatology, surgery, internal medicine, emergency and critical care, and ophthalmology, providing excellent opportunities for professional collaboration and continued development.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a qualified MRCVS Veterinary Surgeon with excellent consultation and communication skills and a passion for delivering exceptional patient and client care. You will enjoy working collaboratively within a large clinical team, be confident managing consultations independently, and have a commitment to maintaining high clinical standards while supporting the development of colleagues and the wider practice.
