This position is particularly well-suited for someone who holds or is currently working towards a CertAVP in Small Animal Surgery and is passionate about developing advanced surgical techniques. This is an excellent opportunity to take the lead in surgical case planning and peri-operative care, while working within a supportive and experienced team.

Working Hours / Rota
The role is offered as a 40-hour working week across 4 days, providing a good work-life balance. There is also a 1-in-4 Saturday rota (08:30–14:30). Flexible and part-time working arrangements can be considered, allowing for discussions around a rota that best suits your needs.

Role Description
As Surgical Veterinary Surgeon, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of advanced procedures, including TPLO/TTAs or equivalent, spinals, fracture repairs, and complex soft tissue surgeries such as perineal urethrostomy, TECA, BOAS, and thoracotomy. You will play a leading role in clinical decision-making, ensuring patient care is delivered to the highest standards. Alongside your surgical caseload, you will also provide clear communication and support to clients, engage in clinical mentoring, and contribute to the continuous professional development of the wider team.

Team Size
You will be joining a dedicated and experienced team that includes Veterinary Surgeons, RVNs, student nurses, and support staff. The practice also functions as a training environment for both vets and nurses, fostering a strong learning culture and collaborative working environment.

Practice Details
This is a modern, purpose-built practice designed to support a high standard of veterinary care. The facility boasts five consulting rooms, separate dog and cat wards, and excellent operating theatres equipped with advanced technology. Available equipment includes ECG, orthopaedic kit, digital and dental X-ray, and ultrasound. With a busy and varied caseload, the practice provides an excellent environment for a surgeon looking to expand and refine their clinical skills.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be an RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon with strong surgical ability and a desire to progress advanced techniques. Holding or working towards a CertAVP in Small Animal Surgery is highly desirable. You should be confident performing complex surgical procedures, committed to delivering exceptional standards of patient and client care, and skilled in leading and mentoring colleagues.
