Job Description

Introduction
Our Client is a corporately owned practice/hospital and operates a thriving small animal practice in the Mapperley area of Nottinghamshire. The practice is expanding rapidly and has built a strong reputation for delivering high standards of patient and client care. As a Gold Cat Friendly Clinic and RCVS-accredited Training Practice, the team is committed to clinical excellence, professional development and maintaining outstanding welfare standards.

Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week. The weekend rota is 1 in 5, with Saturday hours from 9:00am to 4:30pm and Sunday hours from 10:00am to 3:30pm. There are no out-of-hours requirements.

Role Description
The Veterinary Surgeon will manage a varied small animal caseload within a busy, fast-paced environment. The role includes consultations, diagnostics, routine and advanced surgical procedures, and collaborative case discussions within a highly skilled team. The practice supports clinical autonomy and encourages progression, including certificate study in areas such as surgery, imaging, and exotics. With a strong emphasis on welfare and client care, you will work cases to a high clinical standard while contributing to the supportive and team-driven culture of the practice.

Team Size
You will join a team of 5 Veterinary Surgeons with varied clinical interests and certificate qualifications, supported by 5 Registered Veterinary Nurses and 7 receptionists. The team includes vets working towards certificates in areas such as imaging and exotics, alongside leadership with a strong interest in dentistry.

Practice Details
The practice features bright, modern facilities including in-house dental X-ray, digital radiography, laboratory equipment, and separate wards for dogs, cats and rabbits. It also benefits from its own laparoscopy equipment, enabling regular laparoscopic spays and cystoscopy procedures. As a Gold Cat Friendly Clinic and RCVS-accredited Training Practice, the hospital maintains high clinical and welfare standards while offering excellent learning opportunities.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a confident Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon who thrives in a fast-paced, team-focused environment. You will value high standards of patient care, enjoy collaborative working, and be motivated to continue developing your clinical skills. A proactive and client-focused approach is essential.
