Introduction
Our Client is a corporately owned practice/hospital and operates a purpose-built, RCVS-accredited veterinary hospital on the Isle of Wight. The hospital delivers a dedicated out-of-hours emergency service and is equipped to provide advanced diagnostics and surgical care. This is an exciting opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon with ECC experience, or a GP vet looking to transition into emergency work, to join a supportive and progressive night team in a stunning coastal location.

Working Hours / Rota
This is a dedicated out-of-hours role working a 7 nights on, 14 nights off rota. Flexible variations to this shift pattern can be discussed to suit individual preferences. Accommodation is provided during working weeks, and ferry costs are covered for those commuting from the mainland.

Role Description
The Veterinary Surgeon will join a dedicated night team delivering emergency and critical care services. Responsibilities include triaging and managing emergency cases, providing inpatient care, performing emergency surgical procedures where required, and ensuring high standards of clinical documentation and client communication. The practice is committed to structured clinical development, offering full support for those wishing to pursue a certificate in ECC. The role provides strong professional development opportunities within a collaborative and well-supported hospital environment.

Team Size
You will work alongside a dedicated and supportive veterinary team within a hospital setting. As part of a wider national network, you will also have access to additional clinical expertise, internal learning pathways, and collaborative support across multiple practices.

Practice Details
The hospital is purpose-built and equipped with four consultation rooms, two surgical suites, an in-house laboratory, ultrasound scanner, digital radiography, dental radiography, CT scanner, and endoscopy equipment. The practice is RCVS-accredited and provides high-quality emergency and referral-level support. Located on the Isle of Wight, the hospital benefits from beautiful countryside, coastal access, and convenient ferry links to Southampton and Portsmouth with onward travel to London.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a motivated and enthusiastic Veterinary Surgeon with experience in ECC or a strong interest in transitioning into out-of-hours emergency work. You will be confident managing emergency presentations, committed to gold-standard patient care, and possess excellent communication skills. A proactive approach to learning and professional development is essential, particularly for those interested in pursuing an ECC certificate.
