Job Description
Introduction
Our Client practice is a proudly independent small animal clinic set in a picturesque rural location, offering a calm and collaborative working environment. Known for its longstanding reputation and exceptional client relationships, the practice is now seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join their close-knit and supportive team on a permanent basis. This is a rare opportunity to join a stable and progressive practice that has been closed to new clients for over seven years due to the strength of its community trust and caseload.
Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time role with flexibility around working patterns to ensure an excellent work-life balance. Weekday consultations conclude at 5:30pm, and there is no Saturday surgery. Out-of-hours responsibilities are shared on a rota basis, typically one evening per week and one weekend in approximately five. The dedicated nursing team provides overnight inpatient care, ensuring clinical continuity without compromising your downtime.
Role Description
This position will suit a confident small animal vet who enjoys building client relationships and working to high clinical standards. The role involves a balanced caseload of consultations, diagnostics, and surgeries within a well-equipped setting. The practice supports professional development and is open to funding training in specialist areas. There is also potential for partnership opportunities for the right person, making this a unique long-term career move.
Team Size
The team is small, close-knit, and highly supportive, with a shared commitment to patient care and clinical excellence. Team dynamics are built on mutual respect, flexibility, and collaboration, creating a welcoming and professional environment where every voice matters.
Practice Details
This independent rural practice is known for its calm atmosphere, loyal client base, and strong clinical autonomy. Thanks to long-standing relationships with clients and a reputation for trust and care, the practice maintains a varied but manageable caseload. It is equipped to handle both routine and more complex cases, and the team is committed to maintaining continuity of care through its own minimal out-of-hours service.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a confident and compassionate Veterinary Surgeon with strong communication skills and a desire to be part of a stable, values-led team. You will be comfortable handling a varied caseload and eager to continue growing clinically. Candidates with an interest in developing a specialism or pursuing ownership opportunities will be warmly welcomed. Flexibility and a collaborative mindset are essential.
