Job Description
Introduction
Our Client is seeking a confident Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join their established five-vet team in North London. This is an excellent opportunity to join a modern, progressive first-opinion practice committed to delivering high clinical standards within a supportive and forward-thinking environment.
Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time position working 42 hours per week over 4 days. The rota includes 1 in 4 Saturdays, 1 in 8 Sundays, and 1 bank holiday per year. Consultations are appointment-only with a minimum of 15 minutes per patient, allowing for thorough and tailored care.
Role Description
The Veterinary Surgeon will deliver high-quality first-opinion care, managing routine consultations and surgeries with confidence. You will be responsible for working up cases to a high standard using the practice’s in-house diagnostic and surgical facilities. The role offers opportunities to pursue further certification and structured professional development programmes. You will collaborate closely with the wider clinical team to provide contextualised, patient-focused care while maintaining excellent communication with clients.
Team Size
The practice has a team of 5 Veterinary Surgeons supported by experienced nursing and support staff. As a nurse training practice, the team also supports student nurses and structured graduate development, fostering a collaborative and educational environment.
Practice Details
The practice is RCVS-accredited under the Practice Standards Scheme (Core), Cat Friendly accredited, and holds the Investors in the Environment award. They are actively working towards additional PSS awards and Dog Friendly accreditation. Facilities include a comprehensive in-house laboratory, digital dental x-ray, digital x-ray, and ultrasound facilities, enabling thorough diagnostics and high-quality case workups on-site.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years’ UK small animal practice experience and be confident in routine surgery and consultations. Strong teamwork, communication, and client-care skills are essential, alongside a commitment to delivering high-quality, contextualised patient care. You will thrive in a collaborative environment and be motivated to pursue ongoing professional development.
