Job Description

Introduction
Our Client is a corporately owned practice seeking a Veterinary Surgeon to join their small, busy, and friendly team. This is an excellent opportunity for a vet looking to take the next step in their career or enjoy a varied caseload within a supportive and collaborative environment.

Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week across 4 days, with 1 in 3 Saturdays or 1 in 6 full weekends at a nearby 24-hour hospital. The position includes sole charge responsibilities one day per week.

Team Size
The practice team includes a Lead Veterinary Surgeon, a Registered Veterinary Nurse, a Student Veterinary Nurse, a Veterinary Care Assistant, and a Client Care Assistant, creating a close-knit and motivated working environment.

Role Description
The successful candidate will provide exceptional clinical and client care, carrying out a mix of consultations and surgical procedures. One day per week will involve sole charge duties, while the remaining days will be shared with a fellow vet, alternating between surgery and consultation work. Responsibilities include delivering excellent patient monitoring and treatment, managing admissions and discharges, preparing treatment plans and estimates, and ensuring full regulatory and practice compliance. The role also involves mentoring junior colleagues, supporting nurse consults, and contributing to the continuous development of clinical standards within the team.

The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be an RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon with at least two years of UK small animal practice experience. They should demonstrate strong clinical and surgical skills, confidence in sole charge, and a proactive, team-oriented attitude. Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational abilities are essential, as well as a commitment to delivering high standards of patient and client care.
