Job Description
Introduction
Our client is a corporately owned small animal hospital based in Huntingdon, currently seeking a part-time Registered Veterinary Nurse to join their team on a fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a friendly, hardworking team that strives to provide the highest standards of clinical and patient care.
Working Hours / Rota
The position offers flexibility in part-time scheduling with Monday to Friday 8-hour shifts between 7:30am and 9:00pm or a 4-day week of 10-hour shifts. Weekends are worked on a shared rota with time off in lieu, and bank holidays are also covered on a rota. Nights are handled by a dedicated night team, so there are no overnight requirements.
Role Description
This is a varied role with responsibilities including inpatient care, nurse consultations, and anaesthetic monitoring for both routine and emergency surgeries. You’ll be working in a fast-paced hospital environment alongside a skilled veterinary team with special interests in cardiology, internal medicine, and anaesthesia. Clinical coaching is an integral part of the role, and support is available for nurses looking to train as a coach.
Team Size
You will be joining a close-knit and collaborative team of veterinary professionals committed to high standards and ongoing development. The team values support, mentorship, and continuous improvement within the clinical environment.
Practice Details
The hospital is a long-established, purpose-built facility offering a full range of small animal services, including advanced diagnostics and a 24-hour emergency care provision. The hospital is well-equipped with modern tools including ultrasound, dental x-ray, and endoscopy, enabling the team to deliver comprehensive veterinary care.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a qualified and RCVS-registered small animal veterinary nurse with a positive attitude and strong clinical skills. Experience in a hospital setting is preferred, and an interest in clinical coaching is advantageous. Flexibility, commitment to patient care, and the ability to thrive in a busy environment are essential.
