This part-time opportunity is ideal for a Vet Surgeon seeking a well-supported role with flexibility, bonded clients, and an excellent work-life balance while remaining within easy reach of London.
Working Hours / Rota
This part-time role averages 20.12 hours per week and includes a 1 in 3 branch Saturday morning rota and a 1 in 8 hospital Sunday rotation. You will be rota’d to one bank holiday per year at a nearby hospital. There is flexibility in how weekday hours are structured, such as shorter and longer days to suit your schedule. You will always work alongside another experienced vet during the week, and there are no on-call requirements.
Role Description
As a branch Vet Surgeon, you will carry out consultations, perform routine surgeries within your competence, and provide high standards of clinical care in line with current best practice and professional guidance. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate clinical records, prescribing and dispensing medications appropriately, and referring cases when required. You will also contribute to a respectful, collaborative team environment and deliver excellent client care.
Team Size
You will be supported by two long-standing Veterinary Surgeons, a senior RVN, an experienced nursing and reception team, and an established regional management structure. Out-of-hours care is provided by a nearby 24-hour veterinary hospital with specialist support.
Practice Details
The practice is set in a quiet village location with a strong, bonded client base. Facilities include three consulting rooms, separate dog and cat wards, ultrasound capability, and all the equipment expected of a large branch practice. The practice also benefits from outdoor staff space, including a large garden area for breaks. Advanced diagnostics and emergency care are provided by a nearby 24-hour hospital with extensive specialist services.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a Vet Surgeon looking for a part-time first-opinion GP role with flexibility and strong clinical support. You will be comfortable with routine consultations and surgeries, value teamwork, and enjoy building long-term client relationships.
