Job Description

Introduction
Our Client is a well-established, community-focused 24-hour small animal hospital based in Chorley, Lancashire. The clinic is committed to delivering high standards of patient care and is equipped to manage both routine and complex hospital-based cases.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon with a strong interest in hospital medicine and inpatient care to join a supportive and collaborative team environment.

Working Hours / Rota
This is a permanent full-time position working 40 hours per week. The rota includes a mix of early and late shifts between 8:30am and 7:30pm, plus 1 in 6 full weekends.

Role Description
In this role, you will be accountable for patient care within the hospital, delivering exceptional clinical standards during consultations, procedures, and inpatient management. A key focus will be the work-up and management of complex medical cases, with involvement in developing and enhancing hospital and inpatient services.

The practice is seeking a certificate holder, or a Veterinary Surgeon working towards a certificate, ideally with a medical certificate or significant experience in internal medicine. You will play an integral role in mentoring colleagues, supporting nurse consults and Schedule 3 procedures, and contributing to a progressive clinical culture.

You will also be responsible for preparing tailored treatment plans with clear cost estimates, ensuring high standards of regulatory compliance, and completing effective clinical handovers where enhanced or out-of-hours care is required.

Team Size
The team consists of 6 Veterinary Surgeons, 7 day RVNs, 3 night RVNs, 4 Client Care Assistants, and 1 Veterinary Care Assistant. You will work closely with a supportive Branch Partner and experienced Practice Manager within a collaborative 24-hour hospital setting.

Practice Details
The 24-hour hospital provides comprehensive inpatient and emergency care services within a well-equipped clinical environment. The practice is focused on expanding and strengthening its hospital-based services, particularly in complex medical case management.

Located in Chorley, Lancashire, the clinic offers a strong community presence with convenient access to local amenities.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon who holds or is working towards a certificate. A special interest in hospital medicine and inpatient care is essential, with a medical certificate or strong internal medicine experience highly desirable.

You will demonstrate clinical leadership skills, strong communication abilities, and experience in mentoring and developing colleagues. A commitment to maintaining high regulatory and operational standards, alongside a collaborative team approach, is key to success in this role.
