Job Description

Introduction
Our client is a corporately owned 24-hour hospital seeking a Veterinary Surgeon to join their experienced team in Chorley. This is an excellent opportunity for a vet who is confident with both consulting and routine surgery, enjoys working collaboratively, and is passionate about delivering high-quality care within a supportive and well-equipped hospital setting.

Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week, with a mix of early and late shifts between 8:30am and 7:30pm, plus 1 in 6 full weekends on the rota.

Role Description
The role involves a varied caseload of consulting and surgery, ensuring the delivery of exceptional care to patients and clients. Responsibilities include preparing treatment plans and cost estimates, supporting with the development of the veterinary and nursing team, and maintaining high standards of clinical and professional practice. The successful candidate will also play an active role in mentoring colleagues and contributing to the wider clinical community.

Team Size
You will be joining a welcoming and supportive team consisting of 6 Veterinary Surgeons, 7 day Registered Veterinary Nurses, 3 night Registered Veterinary Nurses, 4 Client Care Assistants, 1 Veterinary Care Assistant, a Branch Partner and a Practice Manager.

The hospital is a well-established 24-hour site that provides round-the-clock care to the local community. The practice is fully equipped for a wide variety of cases, offering a supportive environment with opportunities for professional development and collaboration. With excellent transport links and a strong client base, the hospital is ideally positioned for vets seeking both a rewarding caseload and work-life balance.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be an RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon with a minimum of 2 years’ experience, including at least 1 year post-VetGDP. You should be confident in routine consultations and surgeries, and enjoy working as part of a collaborative team. Strong communication skills, the ability to mentor and support colleagues, and a commitment to maintaining a progressive clinical culture are all essential.
