Our Client is an independently owned practice/hospital operating as part of a respected veterinary group and provides first-opinion small animal care across East Lancashire. The practice is RCVS accredited and has an excellent, loyal client base. Working Hours / Rota
This is a permanent full-time role based primarily at the Burnley branch. Flexible working arrangements can be discussed, and part-time applications are welcomed. The role is predominantly consulting only, although routine surgical procedures can be incorporated if desired. There are no out-of-hours requirements, as the practice operates its own dedicated OOH service at the Colne hospital to maintain continuity of care.

Role Description
The Veterinary Surgeon will focus primarily on consultations, client communication, and clinical decision-making within a varied first-opinion caseload. The role offers the opportunity to develop strong client relationships while maintaining high standards of medical care. For those wishing to maintain surgical exposure, routine procedures can be incorporated. You will work collaboratively within a large, experienced team and have access to certificate holders in medicine, dentistry, and ECC, alongside specialist support in ultrasonography and cardiology.

Team Size
You will join a cohesive team of approximately 65 colleagues working across multiple branches. The team includes experienced Veterinary Surgeons, certificate holders, highly trained Registered Veterinary Nurses, and strong support staff, creating a collaborative and supportive working culture.

Practice Details
The main hospital in Colne is well equipped with digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, two surgical theatres, a dental suite with dental X-ray, in-house laboratory facilities, and separate canine and feline wards. The Burnley branch includes an in-house laboratory, three consultation rooms, a surgical theatre, and a patient kennel ward. The practice also operates a consulting branch in Barnoldswick. Located in East Lancashire, the area offers access to vibrant towns, beautiful countryside, and excellent transport links to Manchester and Leeds.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have completed their VetGDP and be confident in routine consultations with strong client communication skills. You will be enthusiastic about CPD, collaborative working, and delivering excellent patient care within a supportive team. A proactive attitude and commitment to maintaining high clinical standards are essential.
