Job Description
Introduction
Our Client is a corporately owned practice in Brighton seeking a General Veterinary Surgeon to join their friendly and compassionate team on a full-time basis.
Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time role of 40 hours per week.
Role Description
The Veterinary Surgeon will be responsible for carrying out consultations and procedures, monitoring patients, and overseeing admissions and discharges. Additional duties include prescribing medication, maintaining accurate patient records, clinical handovers, and liaising with clients to ensure continuity of care. The role also involves ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, supporting commercial performance through accurate estimates, and maximising clinic capacity. Clinical leadership responsibilities include mentoring colleagues, supporting graduate vets, sharing best practice, and encouraging a progressive clinical culture.
Team Size
The practice is staffed by 2 vets, 1 full-time HRVN, 1 part-time RVN, 1 full-time VCA, 2 CCAs (one full-time, one part-time), and a Practice Manager.
Practice Details
The Brighton clinic is located in the heart of the city and is well-equipped with dental and digital x-ray, ultrasound, a full in-house laboratory, kennels, and a dedicated theatre. The practice is well established with a loyal client base and is known locally for its warmth, kindness, and continuity of care.
The Ideal Candidate
The role suits an RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon with a minimum of 2 years’ UK experience. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong clinical leadership, a team-focused approach, and excellent client communication skills. Experience supporting nurse consults, coaching colleagues, and fostering a collaborative environment is desirable.
