Job Description
Introduction
Our client is a corporately owned charity hospital seeking a Veterinary Surgeon to join their dedicated and supportive team. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a special organisation that provides vital veterinary care for pets whose owners would otherwise be unable to afford treatment. This role offers variety, challenge, and the chance to make a real impact on animal welfare and the community.
Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time position with flexible working options available to support work-life balance. Weekend work and out-of-hours duties are shared across the team on a fair rota basis, with enhanced pay and stand-down time during the week when weekends are worked.
Role Description
The successful candidate will handle a wide variety of cases, delivering high-quality clinical care while maintaining a strong focus on client communication and welfare. You will be encouraged to share your skills, support colleagues, and lead by example. This role requires adaptability, a pragmatic approach to treatment, and a commitment to promoting client contributions and resource efficiencies within the charity framework.
Team Size
The hospital team consists of Veterinary Surgeons, Registered Veterinary Nurses, and support staff with varied clinical interests. This structure provides excellent opportunities for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and case discussion, ensuring support for clinical decision-making and professional growth.
Practice Details
The hospital is a modern, purpose-built facility equipped with separate dog and cat kennelling, in-house radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, piped gases, and an extensive range of orthopaedic equipment. The environment is designed to deliver excellent clinical outcomes while maintaining a strong focus on patient comfort and client care. As part of one of the UK’s most respected veterinary charities, this role offers the opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of pets and their owners.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a qualified Veterinary Surgeon with confidence in managing a wide variety of cases. You should have strong communication skills, a collaborative team spirit, and the ability to adapt to the fast-paced and varied nature of charity hospital work. A passion for client care, animal welfare, and a commitment to championing the charity’s values are essential, along with a willingness to take on leadership responsibilities and support the development of colleagues.
