Introduction
Our Client’s practice is a purpose-built small animal practice based in Biggleswade that is seeking an enthusiastic and passionate Veterinary Surgeon to join their experienced and supportive team.
Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time position working 37 hours per week. The rota includes 1 in 4 weekends, with Saturdays 8:30am – 6:00pm and Sundays 10:00am – 4:00pm. There are no out-of-hours requirements. Some sole charge responsibility is required within the role.
Role Description
The role involves a balanced caseload of both medical and surgical cases, with the team operating a 50% surgical and 50% medical split. The successful candidate will be confident in routine surgery and general practice medicine, while also enjoying building lasting relationships with clients and patients. The practice sees a varied caseload including occasional orthopaedic procedures. CPD is actively encouraged, and support for further certification is available, allowing vets to pursue individual clinical interests and develop their expertise.
Team Size
The team consists of 4 Veterinary Surgeons, 5 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 2 Student Veterinary Nurses, 4 Receptionists and 1 Veterinary Care Assistant. One vet holds a certificate in ophthalmology, providing additional clinical support within the team.
Practice Details
The practice is purpose-built and air-conditioned with state-of-the-art equipment including tonometry, ultrasound, a k laser and digital x-rays.. Alternative therapies, including acupuncture, are offered and encouraged. The practice is well-equipped to support a broad range of first-opinion cases, including surgical and medical workups.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have strong all-round general practice skills across both medicine and surgery and be confident handling a varied caseload, including occasional orthopaedic procedures. They will be comfortable with some sole charge responsibilities and enjoy working collaboratively within a supportive team. A passion for client communication, ongoing professional development and delivering high clinical standards is essential.
