Job Description
Introduction
Our Client is an RCVS-accredited small animal practice based in Poole, Dorset, with an additional site in Bournemouth. Located minutes from the sea and close to the Jurassic Coast, Dorset countryside and the New Forest, the practice offers an exceptional lifestyle alongside high clinical standards.
This is a friendly, growing practice with modern facilities and a genuinely supportive team culture. The role is offered on a fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave, providing an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic and welcoming team.
Working Hours / Rota
This is a part-time position working 28.5 hours per week on a fixed-term contract until September 2026, with an immediate start preferred.
Hours can be worked over 3, 4 or 5 days per week on a rota basis. Some shifts start at 8:00–8:30am and some finish at 7:00pm. Rare Saturday overtime may be required for cover, but Saturdays are not part of the standard schedule.
There are no out-of-hours requirements, and the practice is closed on Bank Holidays, supporting an excellent work–life balance.
Role Description
This is a varied nursing role covering consulting, reception duties, theatre work, and inpatient care. You will have the opportunity to utilise your full nursing skillset, including performing Schedule 3 tasks, within a supportive environment where nursing input is valued and trusted.
The practice encourages ongoing professional development, with standard CPD support and funding available for additional qualifications and certificates. You will be part of a collaborative team where communication and mutual respect underpin daily practice.
Team Size
You will join a friendly and close-knit team of Veterinary Surgeons, Registered Veterinary Nurses, and support colleagues who value teamwork, shared learning, and a positive working atmosphere. The practice culture emphasises collaboration, trust, and strong professional relationships both in and out of work.
Practice Details
The practice is well-equipped with modern facilities, including an in-house CT scanner. Both the Poole and Bournemouth sites are located close to the beach, offering easy access to coastal and countryside activities.
As an RCVS-accredited practice, the clinic maintains high standards of clinical care within a modern and well-resourced environment.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a RCVS Registered Veterinary Nurse who is enthusiastic, proactive, and passionate about delivering high standards of patient and client care.
You will be confident working across consultations, theatre, and inpatient care, and enjoy being part of a supportive, social, and collaborative team environment. A positive attitude and willingness to contribute to the practice’s friendly culture are essential.
