Job Description
Introduction
Our Client is seeking a Registered Veterinary Nurse with a passion for theatre work to join their largest 24-hour hospital. This is a fantastic opportunity for an RVN who excels in a surgical environment and is looking to develop further within orthopaedics.
Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week.
The rota includes an average of 1 in 4 weekends with time off in lieu, up to 3 bank holidays per year, and a last-resort on-call rotation. You will be scheduled to work alongside the orthopaedic surgeon to ensure an efficient and streamlined surgical service. When the orthopaedic surgeon is not operating, you will support other areas of theatre.
Role Description
This role is ideally suited to an RVN who feels most confident in theatre and has a strong interest in orthopaedic procedures. You will assist in advanced orthopaedic surgeries and support soft tissue and minimally invasive procedures when required.
You will work closely with a senior theatre RVN to maintain and continually develop theatre protocols and standards. In addition, you will be supported by deputy head nurses, a head nurse and an experienced hospital manager.
There is opportunity for further training in orthopaedics if required, and potential progression into a Theatre Lead role for those wishing to develop leadership responsibilities.
Team and Hospital Environment
You will join a large and experienced team of approximately 24 Veterinary Surgeons, 27 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 14 Student Veterinary Nurses, 7 Veterinary Care Assistants and a substantial front-of-house team.
The hospital offers advanced diagnostics and surgical capabilities on site, providing a varied and complex caseload within a supportive environment that encourages internal progression and professional development.
Location
The practice is situated on the outskirts of suburban Essex with excellent and direct transport links into London. Snaresbrook and Wanstead stations are both within walking distance on the Central Line, offering easy access across the capital while enjoying a more residential setting.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a RCVS Registered Veterinary Nurse with strong theatre experience and a keen interest in orthopaedics.
You will be confident assisting in surgery, proactive in maintaining high clinical standards, and motivated to develop your skills further within a hospital environment.
