Job Description

Introduction
Our Client is a corporately owned hospital delivering the very highest standards of modern veterinary care across small animals, equine, and farm services. They are now seeking a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join their RCVS-accredited hospital in Aylesbury, a busy, multi-discipline hospital operating 24/7 throughout the year.

Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week across four 10-hour shifts, with shift times ranging between 07:30 and 19:30 to support a strong work–life balance. The role includes participation in a one-in-six weekend rota with time off in lieu, as well as involvement in the bank holiday rota. There are no night shift requirements, as a dedicated night team is already in place.

Role Description
This role offers excellent variety within a small animal hospital environment that also sees a high exotic caseload. You will rotate through theatre, wards, nurse clinics, and admitting, dispensing, and discharge duties, ensuring broad clinical exposure and skill development. An interest in nurse clinics is desirable, although competency and enthusiasm for ward and theatre nursing are equally important. You will work alongside a large and experienced nursing team, allowing you to develop professionally while delivering excellent patient care. The hospital strongly supports ongoing learning, offering generous CPD funding and a positive, collaborative workplace culture.

Team Size
You will join a large and supportive nursing team consisting of 23 Registered Veterinary Nurses and 4 Patient Care Assistants, alongside certificate holders and specialist clinicians, creating a highly collaborative and well-supported working environment.

Practice Details
The hospital is an RCVS-accredited, multi-discipline hospital with state-of-the-art facilities and 24/7 care provision. The practice is equipped with advanced diagnostic and treatment tools and supports a varied and interesting caseload, including exotics. Regular team-building and social events contribute to a strong team spirit, with recognition initiatives in place to celebrate outstanding contributions from staff.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a qualified and enthusiastic Registered Veterinary Nurse who is caring, approachable, and enjoys working as part of a large team. You will be confident in hospital-based nursing, comfortable rotating through different departments, and keen to develop your clinical skills further. A positive attitude, strong communication skills, and a genuine passion for high-quality patient care are essential to succeed in this role.
