Job Description

The Role

Our client is a friendly, mixed, truly independent practice based on the edge of beautiful Dartmoor in Devon.

The practice is forward-thinking and welcomes input and improvements.

They have a dedicated team of vets, assisted by RVNs, ANAs & and VCAs; a separate reception team and a dispensary team. They like their nurses to nurse, so there is minimal telephone/reception duty.

It has been successfully caring for all animals, small and large in the area for over 50 years. The practice is well-equipped with digital X-rays, in-house blood analysis, laboratory facilities, dentistry equipment, ultrasound scanning, oxygen units for critical care, flexible Endoscopy and in-house worm egg counts.

Duties will be varied and will include assisting the veterinary team with surgical and medical cases, as well as general nursing duties. The successful candidate will work with the nursing team towards expanding the practice’s current services in areas of expertise/interest – nurse clinics/anaesthetics/in-patient care.

Whilst the majority of your work would be based around companion animal care, there is the opportunity to expand your knowledge into large animal care (ewe/goat caesarians, colt castrates).

Applicants should be efficient, dedicated and have excellent organisational skills, with a desire to deliver consistently great results. You will be a proficient communicator, have a positive attitude & excellent bedside manner. Someone with clinical coaching experience would be beneficial, but not essential, as this will enable them to continue working with their student nurses.

This is a full-time position (40 hours/week – mixed shifts between 8am & 7pm) The on-call rota is shared between the nursing team.
