Job Description

Introduction
Our Client’s practice is an independent mixed veterinary group expanding with a brand-new branch opening in Autumn 2026. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Small Animal Vet to take a leadership role from day one, building and shaping a new clinic while being fully supported by an established and highly skilled wider team. The practice is committed to delivering exceptional clinical care while fostering a people-first culture, strong client relationships, and continuous development.

Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time role working a 4-day week, with shifts from 9:00am to 6:00pm. The position includes participation in an out-of-hours rota of 1 in 7 weeknights and weekends, with OOH handled at a nearby branch approximately 20 minutes away. Overnight work is minimal, with strong nursing support on-site 24/7 and flexibility provided following any overnight call-outs.

Role Description
This is a rare opportunity to lead and develop a new veterinary branch from the ground up. The successful candidate will take full clinical responsibility for the practice, initially working in a sole charge capacity while building the caseload and growing the team. Responsibilities include delivering high standards of small animal care, driving clinical excellence, and providing outstanding client service. The role also involves contributing to the strategic growth of the branch, mentoring future team members, and helping shape the culture and operational success of the clinic.

Team Size
The branch will initially launch with a small, close-knit team consisting of one vet, one nurse, and one receptionist, with additional support from other established branches as required. The long-term vision is to grow the team into a multi-vet practice.

Practice Details
The practice is an independent, well-established mixed group with separate small animal, farm, and equine departments. It places strong emphasis on clinical excellence, staff wellbeing, and long-term development. The wider group includes multiple certificate holders and offers access to advanced diagnostic and surgical capabilities. The business is committed to investing in its people, facilities, and equipment, while maintaining a supportive and collaborative culture.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be an experienced and confident Small Animal Vet with a minimum of 5 years’ post-qualification experience. They will be comfortable working in a sole charge environment and possess strong all-round clinical skills. The role requires a motivated individual who is eager to take ownership of a new branch, lead a team, and drive business growth. Excellent communication skills, high clinical standards, and a passion for delivering outstanding client care are essential.

Equipment
This group is well-equipped across their sites allowing you access to advanced diagnostic and surgical tools including arthroscopy, CT scanner, and laparoscopy, supporting a high level of in-house clinical capability.
