Job Description

Introduction
Our client is a corporately owned practice seeking a dedicated and experienced Clinical Director to join their well-established small animal practice in Basingstoke. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon or current Clinical Director to lead a highly respected team, driving forward clinical services, team development, and practice performance.

Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time role of 40 hours per week, worked over four days, with 1 in 4 Saturdays. There are no out-of-hours requirements, and the practice offers protected administrative time, as well as regular breaks to promote work-life balance.

Role Description
The successful candidate will take responsibility for the overall leadership of the practice, ensuring the delivery of exceptional patient care and client service. You will lead by example, fostering smooth communication between team members, central support, and other group practices. This role involves driving clinical standards, supporting professional development, and promoting a culture of excellence. Specific interests are encouraged, especially if you hold or are working towards a relevant certificate in small animal primary care.

Team Size
The Practice has a close-knit, collaborative team who pride themselves on their supportive and no-blame culture. Every team member’s voice is valued, and the environment is one of respect, compassion, and shared passion for animal welfare. Regular team-building activities and professional development opportunities contribute to the positive workplace atmosphere.

Practice Details
This modern, purpose-built practice has been serving the community for over 20 years. Facilities include a bronchoscope, digital X-ray, dental suite with dental X-ray capabilities, endoscope, in-house laboratory for biochemistry, haematology, and cytology, two surgical theatres, and a new ultrasound machine. The practice is a Silver ISFM Cat Friendly Practice and holds Dog’s Trust Dog Friendly Clinic status, with separate dog and cat wards to reduce patient stress.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a confident Veterinary Surgeon with proven leadership experience, capable of inspiring and supporting their team while maintaining the highest standards of care. You should have excellent communication skills, strong decision-making abilities, and a collaborative mindset. A certificate holder, or someone working towards one, is highly desirable.
