Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time position based on a 4-day week with 1 in 4 weekends, including a 30-minute lunch break and 1 hour of dedicated admin time per shift. The role involves working across three London surgeries, all within 30 minutes of central London via underground or overground, or 45 minutes by car. Flexible and alternative working patterns can be considered. The position is surgically biased, with additional morning and afternoon consultations to build caseload and conduct post-operative checks. No specific OOH commitments are stated.
Role Description
This is a surgically focused leadership role with an emphasis on orthopaedics and complex soft tissue procedures. You will conduct consultations, investigations and advanced surgical procedures, while maintaining outstanding first-opinion medical standards. You will play a key role in clinical governance, reinforcing compliance with practice procedures, maintaining detailed clinical records, and driving continuous improvement following audits. The role also involves mentoring veterinary colleagues, supporting postgraduate development, collaborating with nursing teams on Schedule 3 activities, and delivering internal training. Alongside surgical responsibilities, you will provide excellent customer communication, manage inpatient care standards, and ensure seamless clinical handovers.
Strategically, you will collaborate with leadership to introduce new protocols, expand services, propose new equipment purchases, and contribute to the wider clinical direction of the organisation.
Team Size
You will integrate into established teams across three surgeries, collaborating closely with Head Vets, Nurses, Customer Experience Managers, and Central Services support. While there are no direct reports, you will act as a senior clinical figure, mentoring vets and supporting nurse development.
Practice Details
The practices are purpose-built, spacious surgeries designed with patient journey, customer experience and colleague wellbeing in mind. They are equipped with modern surgical and diagnostic facilities to support advanced orthopaedic and complex soft tissue procedures. Excellent communication skills are essential, alongside the ability to mentor colleagues, drive clinical standards, and deliver outstanding customer care. You will be organised, resilient, compassionate, and confident under pressure, with a strong commitment to CPD and continuous improvement.
